Comments: Two colossal statues originally stood in front of the tem- ple's entrance pylon. Memnon, the mythical king of Ethiopia, was the son of the goddess Eos (Dawn). One of the colossi, being a much ero- ded statue, used to generate a sound at dawn, interpreted as "singing". |
