Comments: Al-Azhar mosque named to honor Fatima Az-Zahraa, the daughter of the prophet Mohammed, from whom the Fatimid Dynasty claimed descent. The school of theology connected with it was founded in 988. It is one of the oldest operating universities in the world. |
