Abu Simbel, Governorate Aswan Rock temple dedicated to Amun, Ra-Harakhty & Ptah New Kingdom, XIX Dynasty (1298-1187 BC) Ca. 1244-1224 BC, Ŧ Ramses II (1279-1213 BC) |
Comments: The four colossal statues of Ramses II are 22 meters high. They are hewn directly out of the rock face on the façade of the temple. The combination of king's headdress, double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt, wide ceremonial beard and bulky uraeus are typical. |
