Abu Simbel, Governorate Aswan Rock temple dedicated to Amun, Ra-Harakhty & Ptah New Kingdom, XIX Dynasty (1298-1187 BC) Ca. 1244-1224 BC, Ŧ Ramses II (1279-1213 BC) |
Comments: In the case of rock-cut temple the "standard" elements of an Egyptian temple are located further back in the projecting rock face, creating a "negative" image of the traditional structure. The façade is formed like a pylon tower with sloping walls, roll molding and cavetto. |
