Comments: This ceiba tree (Ceiba pentranda), almost 40 meters high, stands at the entrance to the archeological site. Maya regarded the cei- ba tree as sacred because it embodied the common axis mundi that linked the various levels of the Universe: Underworld, Earth and Sky. |
